These Terms and Conditions apply to your use of the Afro-Technical Research Consortium website and to your registration for and participation in our workshops, training sessions, academic events, mentoring activities and related services. Afro-Technical Research Consortium is the public-facing organisation operating in the United Kingdom. By creating an account, registering for an event, making a booking or purchasing a service through this website, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these Terms and Conditions, please do not use the booking or payment services provided through this website. These Terms and Conditions should be read together with our Privacy Policy and any specific information provided on the relevant event or service page.
Some services and events require you to create an account on our website. You are responsible for providing accurate information and for keeping your account details secure. You should not share your account credentials with another person. Bookings are intended for the person named during registration unless we have agreed otherwise. Participants are expected to behave professionally and respectfully towards speakers, organisers and other participants. We may restrict or end participation where a participant engages in abusive, threatening, discriminatory, disruptive or otherwise inappropriate behaviour. Workshop and event materials are provided for the personal educational use of registered participants. You must not reproduce, resell, redistribute, publish or commercially exploit our materials without prior written permission. Participation in a workshop, training session or academic event does not guarantee admission to a university programme, funding, employment, publication, supervision, research collaboration or any other academic or professional outcome. Where certificates are provided, eligibility and any attendance requirements will be stated on the relevant event or service page.
Event places are subject to availability and, where applicable, the stated event capacity. The price displayed at the time of booking is the price applicable to that booking. Where payment is required, payment must be completed through the payment method provided on the website. A booking is confirmed when the website or our booking system confirms successful registration and, where applicable, payment. Please check your booking details carefully before completing payment. Cancellations and Refunds You may request cancellation of your booking and a full refund within 72 hours of completing your booking. After 72 hours, bookings are generally non-refundable unless otherwise required by applicable law or stated on the relevant event page. If you are unable to attend, you may contact us to ask whether your place can be transferred to another person or moved to another session. Any such transfer or change is subject to availability and our agreement. If Afro-Technical Research Consortium cancels an event, we will notify affected participants and provide a refund where applicable. If an event is rescheduled, we will notify affected participants and provide appropriate options regarding their booking. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes any cancellation, refund or other rights that you may have under applicable UK consumer law.
We make reasonable efforts to ensure that event descriptions, dates, times, speakers and other information published on the website are accurate. However, circumstances may occasionally require us to change an event, including its date, time, speaker, format or other arrangements. If a significant change affects your booking, we will provide an appropriate update through the contact details associated with your account or booking. Event content, speakers and learning outcomes may change where reasonably necessary. We will endeavour to maintain the overall purpose and educational value of the event. Any joining information supplied for an online event should be treated as private and must not be shared publicly or with people who have not registered. For questions about bookings, payments, events or participation, please contact us through the contact details provided on the website.
